Key cabinets

For keys that go out every morning and come back every night.

Networked key cabinets hold CyberKeys unprogrammed, program each one for the person in front of them, and wipe and audit it when it comes back.

A key cabinet such as the ValidiKey Pro holds CyberKeys in an unprogrammed state, so a key inside the cabinet opens nothing. A user presents a credential, the cabinet checks with CyberAudit-Web, and the key it releases is programmed with that person's permissions and schedule.

When the key comes back the cabinet downloads its audit trail, records every access event and wipes its programming. If a key is not back on time, administrators are told by email or text.

The ValidiKey Pro, introduced in 2025, is the next generation of the cabinet. Tether a mechanical key to a CyberKey with a ValidiKey ring, and the same checkout, return and audit covers the keys you have not replaced yet.

What it does

1

Twenty keys a cabinet

The ValidiKey Pro programs and dispenses up to 20 CyberKeys at a time.

2

Five ways to sign in

RFID cards including MIFARE DESFire EV3, mission numbers on the keypad, infrared CyberKeys, and Bluetooth 5.0 or NFC through the Cyber Access app.

3

Clear at a glance

A five-inch colour touchscreen with plain key status, and dual-factor authentication where it is needed.

4

Mechanical keys too

ValidiKey rings bring the mechanical keys you still hold under the same checkout and audit.

How a key goes out and comes back

04.1

Stored

Keys wait in the cabinet unprogrammed. A key in the cabinet cannot open any lock.

04.2

The user presents an RFID card, a mission number, an infrared key or the Cyber Access app. Dual-factor authentication is available.

04.3

Programmed

The cabinet checks with CyberAudit-Web and programs a key with that user's permissions and a time-limited schedule.

04.4

Out

The cabinet releases the key and the user goes and does the job.

04.5

Back and wiped

On return the cabinet downloads the audit trail and wipes the key. Late keys trigger an email or text to administrators.

Questions

What people ask first.

Something else? Ask us directly.

Can a key in the cabinet open anything?

No. Keys are stored unprogrammed and only receive permissions when they are issued to an authenticated user.

What happens if a key is not returned?

The cabinet notifies administrators by email or text. When the key does come back, its audit trail is downloaded and its programming wiped.

Where are cabinets used?

Anywhere keys are issued and returned on a routine: commercial facilities, data centres, utilities (power, water and gas), healthcare, airports and transport, and banks.
