02Mechanical or electronic
Same hole. Same hardware. Your choice of rules.
A CyberLock cylinder is made to the dimensions of the mechanical one, so every opening can be either, and can change later with a cylinder swap. Most sites use both. Here is how they compare, opening by opening.
| Situation | Mechanical | CyberLock |
|---|---|---|
| Cost to fit | Lower up front | Higher up front, with no cabling or controllers |
| Keys | Nothing to charge | Rechargeable or replaceable battery |
| A key goes missing | Re-key the cylinders it opened | Expire the key, or tell the locks to refuse it |
| A contractor needs a day | Sign a key out and back in | A key for those locks, that day, then it stops |
| Who opened it? | Whoever signed the key out | Lock and key both record it, granted or denied |
| Fitting | Like for like | Like for like. No wiring, no power |
Not sure which an opening needs? Send us the lock schedule and we'll specify each one, or see the mechanical range.
